Dorothy CROSS
Dorothy Cross came to widespread attention and acclaim when she began a series of works featuring cow skins and cows’ udders. In her art she amalgamates found and constructed objects, these assemblages invariably have the effect of reinvigorating the lives of everyday things, sometimes humorous, sometimes disturbing, always intellectually stimulating and physically arresting.
Cross has had numerous solo exhibitions including a large-scale retrospective at The Irish Museum of Modern Art in 2005. Dorothy Cross has been commissioned to create several public works. The most significant of these, ‘Ghost Ship’, shown in Dublin and at the 1st Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art, has been regarded as one of the most successful public art works in recent years. In 2000 she was awarded the SCIART Research and Development Project Award. Her work is included in many public and private collections worldwide, including the ArtPace Foundation, Texas and the Tate Modern. She lives and works in Dublin.

Antarctica
This is a silent video transferred to black and white negative, which shows a woman diving under icebergs in Antarctica. The result appears quite fragile and at times perhaps toxic. The video length is 20 minutes.

Jellyfish Lake
A woman is filmed from underwater with jellyfish swimming round her. This relates very closely to the other video piece, Antarctica. It runs for 9 minutes and is silent.
