前任英国大使馆文化教育处文化项目主任，90年代起自音乐领域开始参与当代艺术实践，迄今发展成为艺术家和策划人。
Previously the arts programmer for the British Council in Beijing, Colin Chinnery started his artistic career as a musician, forming one of the first experimental collectives in Beijing in the early 1990s. Since then he has developed his career as an artist and curator.

Colin Chinnery is Chief Curator / Deputy Director for the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) in Beijing, where he is instrumental in setting up China’s first major contemporary art institution. At UCCA, Chinnery has been developing an artistic program that encompasses a rich variety of Chinese and international exhibitions together with film screenings, lectures, discussions, education programs, and China’s first contemporary art library. He is currently working on a major new commission by Rebecca Horn.

Previously, as Arts Programmer for the British Council in Beijing, he initiated major projects in experimental theatre, live art, sound art, and visual arts, bringing a wider public into contact with experimental art. In 2005-6, Chinnery organized Sound and the City, inviting experimental musicians and sound artists from China and abroad to create public sound installations, concerts, lectures, seminars, in four major Chinese cities. The project generated unprecedented public and media interested, and will be the subject of a forthcoming publication and CD compilation.

An active artist in his own right, Chinnery co-founded the Complete Art Experience Project 2005-6), an artists’ collective whose works were presented in several important exhibitions in China and United States, including the 2005 Guangzhou Triennial, co-curated by Hou Hanru, Hans-Ulrich Obrist and Guo Xiaoyan. A book documenting CAEP’s activities will be released in 2008. Chinnery has also served as artistic advisor to a wide range of institutions and events, ranging from Tate Collections to Norman Foster’s Beijing International Airport.
